Rachel Allison, pencil and pastel artist, bases her art on the everyday working ranch lifestyle. Located in remote Idaho, Rachel uses her art to share her western heritage, literally "drawing from experience."
A mother of two, with husband Russell, she has raised her family on various ranches, spending her spare time working on her art, utilizing imagery that she witnesses in her daily life on the ranch.
Rachel explained, "I'm inspired by the things around me," with her love of animals and horses apparent through her art, and receiving an invitation to showcase her work at the "Russell Reignited" auction in 2022, held in Great Falls, Montana.
Other shows of note include: Invitation to Art and Soul of the Magic Valley in 2021, Twin Falls, Idaho; Artist featured at the Initial Point Gallery, in Meridian, Idaho in 2021; Wall Artist at the Cowgirl Art Rodear in Bridgeport, California, 2022; 2023 Charlie's March Roundup, Great Falls, Montana. Rachel and Russell were also featured in the 2022 book, "Beyond the Desert, Stories of the Dying Art of Cowboying."
With no formal schooling in the art of drawing, she notes, "A simple and humble pencil has always fascinated me. It takes thought and patience, when creating a piece of pencil art," drawing from her own photography, utilizing a photo to, "remember everything felt, the subject, the surroundings and myself."
As part of the vast artistic community, Rachel states, "It is very important that we stick together and support each other in our art and lifestyle. If we support each other, we would thrive as artists."
